Property Taxes are off the charts!
Property Tax Freeze.
- Residents are forced from their homes for missing a $400 tax bill. This is inhumane.
- Vermont needs to take more responsibility for our budget and not put it on the backs of home owners.
- Instead of cutting essential programs we need to cut the fat out of our government.
- We need to reduce the number of government employees by contracting out jobs to the private sector, and holding these contractors to high values and standards. This, alone, will help create jobs. Let attrition reduce the labor force. We still want to honor those who have filled the state worker positions well for many years. I don't advocate for privatizing prisons however. That just opens the door for greed at the expense of human beings.
Property Tax Freeze.
- All property taxes need to be rolled back two years. We paid our bills two years ago. There was no reason to increase the tax bills, especially as much as they have been increased.
- Any homeowner reaching the age of 65 years, whose primary income is Social Security, or similar fixed income, will have their property tax frozen for the remainder of the years they live in that residence.
- When the house is sold, or the person passes away, taxes for the new owner will be set accordingly, unless the new owner has also been a resident of that home and is over 65 years.
- If income conditions change then taxes will be re-evaluated.
