On Black Lives Matter

Our country is in such turmoil.  People are not being heard, or what they are saying tends to be turned inside out to fit the objector's agenda.

I, unfortunately, have a bit of experience with this topic.  At age 8, in 1955, I moved from Yonkers, NY, to S. Florida, and had my world scrambled with all the new rules to be followed if I wanted to live in the south.  White entrances, White water coolers, even White soda machines.  I was about crucified when I was at a store and drank out of a water cooler marked "Coloreds Only."  I was thirsty and had no idea what the fuss was about.  Again, unfortunately, as a young kid wanting to "fit in" I found myself slipping into the racist way of life I was surrounded by.

At age 17 I went into the Air Force, during the Vietnam era, and my eyes were finally starting to be opened.  Then the anger set in.  The anger that I was led down the path of wrong in every sense of the word.  Why were all these fellow human beings being treated like we had treated them?  It sickened me but I still had a lot to learn, and I refuse to stop learning at age 71.

Here's my view on some of the things being said by people who still have a lot to learn.  The comeback, "All Lives Matter" is a cop-out.  If you can't say "Black Lives Matter" then you can't convince me you aren't a racist.  Like it has been pointed out, All Lives Can't Matter until Black Lives Matter.  And I've heard no-one in the BLM movement say that ONLY Black Lives Matter.  So what are you all afraid of?

One thing I can say for sure is that I hope everyone will agree the murders by bad cops must stop!  (I started to call them Killings, but they are more than that.  Murder is the correct term.)  And when Black parents have to tell their little kids what to do if they are ever approached by the police, or how to act if someone calls them a slur of any kind, or they are bullied in any other way, then it is time for drastic changes.  These are just a very few of the things Black Families face daily that White Families don't need to be overly concerned about.  The occasional problems we face pale in comparison.

So, for those who continue to be offended by the Black Lives Matters movement I offer you this one very simple challenge.  Go to one of these overly peaceful rallies and just sit there listening intently.  What you may learn could just change your life.  I hope it changes your life.  It has changed mine.  Now I hope it has the ability to change every Black Life.

In summation, I assure you that if elected I will welcome the leaders of BLM to sit with me and teach me all they can, in the hopes I can persuade change to happen through new legislation.  Even though Humanity should not need to be Legislated.           The
