Your
Democratic Candidate
for Vermont State Senator
2020!
Vermont’s Greatest Assets… Vermonters!
Thank you to everyone who supported me these past six years. Hopefully we have some of our ideas headed to Montpelier. We gave it a good show. 5100 votes is no small thing.

Update 2020. We won't be going to the Senate, but I hope many of my ideas will be. It was an interesting race this time, but, we are in too Red. Hopefully too much damage won't be done by the one republican who took a democratic seat.
I send out my thanks to all my supporters, helpers, voters, family and friends. We have a great platform, and I hope someone takes up the fight.
Hello and welcome to my Vermont State Senate Race website. Through these pages I hope you will get to know me, my beliefs, and desires for you as a fellow Vermonter.
Here's a quote that supports my reason for running:
Ferguson, Missouri Police Chief Delrish Moss:
"You can't clean the house if you aren't in it."
in 2018, we beat one opponent in five towns and gave them both a scare in twelve others. That is a testimony to how well received my platform has been. 2020 presents us with the best opportunity to unseat a loose cannon. The bills I put forward will consider the needs of all Vermonters, not just a select few friends and relatives.
Thank you all for your support.
2020 is the most important election of our lifetime. We MUST vote this president out , and we have a great opportunity to correct stale ideas in Vermont.
We now find ourselves in the middle of a National Crisis; And a pandemic crisis. The republican side of the Senate forgot what is important. They let politics and party loyalty win over honor and facts. To say this is a shame is an understatement. Things need to change or we are in for a dark, descending spiral.
Here in Vermont we are much better off, however, there are still fights that are being waged on a purely partisan basis. There are Senators who put their own personal benefits before the good of all who live in our beautiful state. There is stagnation in the ranks.
In my view when someone in our government stops being effective, or they forget who they are representing, then change needs to happen in their seat at the table. It's time for new blood, new ideas, and new values to move in before things start looking like the national scene. Rest assured that my commitment will not be compromised by starting a new business, or complaining that Covid-19 is interfering with my ability to work on "non-essential" bills, or by sending out hate emails to my fellow senators because I didn't get enough sleep, as one of my opponents has contended. (Vt Digger 6/20/20)
We have a great opportunity on November 3, 2020. We need all eligible voters to show up though. We can do this!
Let's fight to make Vermont a place everyone can afford to enjoy.
Let's roll property taxes back and freeze them for anyone over 65 years of age.
Let's start helping our small businesses rather than watch them bleed to death from all the start-up fees.
Let's fix a broken DMV inspection system, a system that is nothing more than a tax on those who can least afford it.
Let's educate, protect, and inspire our students so they will want to remain Vermonters.
Let's fight to end the Electoral College.
Let's make it easier for all Vermonters, especially those with challenges, to vote by having mail in ballots for everyone.
Let's get serious about providing quality transportation for rural Vermont through Bus, Rail and AIR.
We must bring broadband access to all of Vermont.
There are ways to clean up our environment that will not negatively affect any of us. Nature is important to Vermont. Our animals are important to Vermont.
And for God's sake let's end racism, sexism and homophobia in our state and elsewhere. We are better than what is still happening.
If you would like to help advance our platform I will personally appreciate any help or spare change you would like to offer. Running a campaign is not only expensive, it's very tiring for those involved. Therefore, the more the merrier. Many hands make for lighter work. If you need a yard sign please send me a message and I will get one or more out to you.
There is a donate button below for those who can help financially, and there is a contact page for those who want to make a difference through assisting in our goals.
I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you who has stepped up to help over the past five years, and who have gone to the polls and voted for just one State Senate candidate of Essex & Orleans Counties, (including Wolcott, Richford and Montgomery),
Ron Horton.
